Back when I lived in the Delta, the Rio Vista Bridge was two separate half-spans. That is, they started building from both side of the river at once and someone goofed. The two sides did not meet. As a result, they build a juncture, an S shape to join the two and that's what we drove over for decades. I believe the correction was made, and the center span, in the 1960s. Oh yes, i didn't know they had installed those windmills so close to the levee. f/v
